Zadar snova festival was founded in 1997 with a mission to provide an up to date art experience. It emphasizes on modern theatre, dance and music productions, art performances and interventions, interdisciplinary workings and challenges introduced in fusion of arts and media.
The festival has a history of presenting and supporting independent artists, has produced a number of own and collaborative productions and is a member of regional and international culture networks.
In an 8-day period from 7 to 14 of August, Zadar snova presents selection of internationally renowned authors according to a principle of an ultimate openness towards the format of the artistic message. In a blend of modern arts and ancient Dalmatian settings gives a full focus on the content of an artistic idea while supporting innovative forms of its expression.
All program presentations take place at various venues of the old town area, an aspect where interaction of past and present cultures generates new communication channels between artists and audience.
The project is run by the independent culture organization Zadar snova and program is made possible thanks to the support of the City of Zadar, and Zadar County.
Zadar snova association was established in 1997 with a mission to promote and produce contemporary performing arts. We acknowledge the role of arts and importance of cultural innovations in the overall social and economic development. To achieve our goals we recognize the following objectives:
☼ to promote intercultural dialogue and networking by providing the structure for production and cooperation
☼ to contribute to development of regional cultural policy and the identity of urban cultural movements
☼ to strengthen the capacity of local independent art scene and to encourage individuals, especially the young, involved in cultural initiatives by providing technical and logistic support
☼ to support artistic creativity by organizing training and workshops in the field of performing arts
☼ to build up managing skills and provide know-how in the area of cultural management by organizing educational programs, seminars and meetings
☼ to establish the multimedia culture and information center as a daily meeting point for creators and artists with an open access to new technologies and relevant databases
