She studied theatre, social pedagogy and criminology. After graduating, she worked as assistant director in Schauspiel Frankfurt. In 2005, she directed her own performance, followed by productions of other performances: Stadttheater Osnabrück, Maxim Gorki Berlin, Sophiensaele Berlin, Städtische Bühnen Heidelberg, bruT Wien, HAU Berlin and Theater Bielefeld. In her work, she explores the relation between individual and history and their position in society. This interest is further tightened by working with non-professional actors, works such as “Because of the Situation” in which Berlin teenage migrants question their own relation towards the Middle East conflicts.

In her theatre-pedagogical work, Lenhart along with the participants, tries to create a performative point of view towards their own reality, e.g. in Reuterkieztheater, a socio-cultural theatre initiative in Berlin Neukölln, which she has lead from 2008 to 2010. Since theatre season 2011, she has been leading a youth theatre at Theaterhaus Jena.
