Kristina Marić: At Gunpoint
Playing with power positions between performer and viewer. The focus is on the discomfort of exposure to the author. The observer not only participates, but is symbolically threatened by the author.
Kristina Marić graduated in 2015 at the Osijek Art Academy. She is the winner of the Austrian Red Carpet Art Awards for Young Artists 2017. She is assistant professor at the Department of Culture at the J. J. Strossmayer University in Osijek and at the Osijek Art Academy, and a member of HDLU Osijek.
Milijana Babić: Hail Mary, Full of Grace
The Triptych exhibition Hail Mary, Full of Grace
deals with the theme of the negative impact of the Catholic Church on women’s rights in Croatia. The 7-day action for a woman in the form of a peaceful protest came about as a response to the Catholic prayer initiative “40 days for life” whose rhetoric it takes over.
The recent work by Milijana Babić is based on performative art practice and often develops in the direction of contextually specific long-lasting action in the public space. In gallery exposition, it is mainly used in the form of artistic documentation. Formal artistic education she acquired at the Tehran Institute in Durban, South Africa, and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana.
Sandra Sterle: Catching the Green Beam
The Green Beam sometimes appears on sea horizon and is less known then the optical effect of the sunrise and sunset. Jules Verne is picturing it as a ‘miraculous green’. In a performative viewing on City Riva, you are invited to observe the rising of the sun and the attempt to catch the Green Beam.
Sandra Sterle participated in many international exhibitions, residencies and festivals since 1995. She explores herself and her story along with the media ranging from performance, photography, cd-rom, video, internet and web streaming. Her works have been included in the main retrospective exhibitions of Croatian video art.
These events are free of charge.
