    REQUIEM FOR ORGANS - PENANCE

Based on texts by Antonin Artaud

Music and Sound: Damir Martinović Mrle, Translation: Zlatko Wurzberg, Light design: Nikša Mrkonjić, Makeup & Hairstyle: Iva Dežmar, Advisor in making hardware, MaxMSP & Kinect programming: Ivan Marušić Klif, Audio engineer, Sound design, Programming: Mirko Trkulja, Production: Kazalište Hotel Bulić, KLjB, Tvornica kulture (CRO)

Artaud believed that all art embodies and intensifies the underlying brutalities of life to recreate the thrill of experience. Guided by the principles of the Artaud's unrepresentable act, three acknowledged Croatian artists charge theatre of cruelty as a provocateur for change. Embodied in the REQUIEM FOR ORGANS their PENANCE is a challenge as it is risk. It can't be viewed, yet is implied through thousands of other senses.

Three authors question the present social, political, and neoliberal structures that defines our relationships and alienate our lives. Their media machine is set to transform the society of spectacle and disaster into individual utopias. In times like these to think the impossible is a power essential to a change.

Gender, race, colour, age, sexual orientation, lifestyle, status... all shape social beliefs and values about victimization or crime. There seems to be nothing strange for public to sympathise with the offenders or even hold victims responsible for their own victimization. In a society of distorted values victims get victimized again. Based on confessions and interaction with traumatized persons VICTIMIZE opens a dialogue between theatre and real-world tragedy. Exploring the very nature of endless human interest in violence makes us wonder, is empathy for victim sincere or could it be that suffer excites us.

Walking into a world as real as ours, a world you know nothing of, where even language is strange and abstract, describes one’s perception of reality distorted in schizophrenia. It’s an intense journey of hallucinations and delusions you take alone, a journey that can tear you apart. Extraordinary concept and creation of group Room100 starts with the intimate family confession of 35 years long struggle with the disease. What follows is an intense and hypnotic display of one lost identity and a search for answers.

We live in a world of words, of phrases, of letters and sentences. Names, titles, notes on every corner of every damned city. Every street, shop, cafe, traffic signs, advertisements, journals, newspapers, news whether false or right, information whether useful or not. All feeding us with nothing indeed, it feed us without having any hunger - not that we are hungry anyway. It seems we are obliged to read all these nonsense bullshits because we have no other choice. I dream of a city without any written word in it.

Fighting arts as a show entertaining an audience existed since time immemorial. Fight is constant, but why? What is real, when and how are we actually alive? The relation with an opponent - thrilling form of intimacy and a strange relationship. 5000 years ago famous Nubian wrestlers amused the Egyptian invader. Combined with a potential danger, to health, even life, wrestling can provide a spectator with a unique experience. And that is our goal. Dear Audience, we wish you to forget about the ordinary life and have a really good time.

    LOVE WILL TEAR US APART
Concept by: Saša Božić, Choreography: Saša Božić & Petra Hrašćanec, Dancer: Petra Hrašćanec, Production: Defacto (CRO)

Love will tear us apart deals with questions of ownership over the performance, first in an abstract dance frame dealing with the body and the politics of observation, then expanded into a broader artistic and social context. Selected love songs result in performance statements where the word love refers to love for dance and love for the performance act in all of its diversity.

    BOYS DON'T CRY
Concept by: Saša Božić, Choreography: Petra Hrašćanec & Saša Božić, Performed by Petra Hrašćanec & Marko Jastrevski Production: Defacto (CRO)

Boys don't cry narrows its musical scope. It explores the legacy of female singer-songwriters from the 60s (Joan Baez, Marianne Faithfull, Judy Collins...) together with the related issues of female identity on the scene as well as the hidden political messages this music and dancing to it possess.

adapted from the Book of Orgasms by Nin Andrews

Authors & Directors: Nora Krstulović & Vedran Petrenel
Composer: Vedran Peternel, Set design by SKROZ, Light design: Saša Fistrić, Sound design: Vedran Peternel, Cast: Ines Cokarić, Ivica Gunjača, Zvonko Hrabar, Sanja Mataga, Vedran Peternel, Adriana Šnajder & Šime Zanze, Coproduction: MCUK Travno, Production: SKROZ & Studio Kubus (CRO)

In Nin Andrews' original conception orgasms represent peak moments that take the form of invisible creatures waiting to lift us up into the air to a place just above our heads and just beyond our fingertips, mapping the imaginary terrain of that upper realm, the place where euphoria endures. And yet - curse or blessing, the gravity of our own desire, the weight of out humanness continually pulls us back from the splendid lightness of euphoria.

When was the last time you were happy? Do you let others run your life or you make your own decisions? Is the pleasure a matter of physiology or trust? Protagonist of this play is Orgasm. How to know whether you've found one, where to look, how to grow it or store it in a bottle, or what if there are more than one... it will all be orgasmalized in this show.

What does it mean to be far above the ground, to walk on the wire above a virtual self, above the life you want, life as it should have been? What does the balance of an individual mean in a contemporary schizophrenic society? There's only one body, one man who will answer these questions. That man is here. With us. Above us. Inside himself. And beside himself. At the same time.

    LOVE'S END

    Pascal Rambert

    Director: Ivica Buljan
Dramaturgy and Assistant director: Robert Waltl, Cast: Pia Zemljič i Marko Mandić, Costume: Ana Savić Gecan, Set and Sound design: son:DA, Coproduction: Mini teater, Mestno gledališče Ptuj (SLO), Zadar snova, Mavena i Novo kazalište (CRO)

If Pascal Rambert had opened the theme of love with his text and play Debut de l'A, with Closure of Love he certainly settled his accounts and made the inventory list before its final liquidation. In a duel of a woman and a man the only weapon is speech, spoken words are gun shots and strokes of bayonets. Rarely we come across of a contemporary drama that concerns us so closely, and even prosaically it touches the most hidden depths of a being.

Fully distant from a traditional artistic process, Rambert in his works tries to comprehend reality. He tries to give it a voice and body, restoring forms and ways of presenting it to an audience. Escaping from standard theatre writing, storytelling stereotypes, he creates a theatre between performance and installation, as his own 'reality transformations'. Deeply drowned in contemporary arts and philosophy, his works are 'whiteness' inviting people to fill them up with their own content.
