Rock the Baroque / Zadarski plesni ansambl / Croatia
Choreographer: Sanja Petrovski

Najraskošnije stilsko razdoblje u umjetnosti prikazano u suvremenom plesnom ambientu. Analizom, defragmentacijom i sintezom pokreta dvorskih plesova 17. i 18. stoljeća, sarabanda , menuet , gigue , plesači se poigravaju formom kreirajući novu plesnu strukturu. Poveznicu ovih dvaju svjetova čini pripovijetka Dvije jeseni, autora Brune Schulza, predstavnika katastrofizma u suvremenoj poljskoj književnosti.

U svom djelu autor poistovjećuje raskošne manifestacije jeseni i baroknu umjetnost nazivajući ih staretinarnicama ljepote. Ludističkim zaplitanjem scenske igre stvara se ugođaj ljepote i kontemplacije, a svime dominira nezaobilazna barokna i vječna tema – prolaznost.

Zadarski plesni ansambl su 1991. osnovale plesačice i koreografkinje Nives Šimatović Predovan i Sanja Petrovski. ZPA je producirao brojne plesne predstave i performanse pronoseći strast za suvremenim plesnim izrazom široj publici. Prepoznata po raznolikim stilovima, grupa kombinira klasične i moderne plesne tehnike s elementima fizičkog i dramskog kazališta nudeći nov i nekovencionalan repertoar.

Fragments of one of the most flamboyant stylistic periods in art displayed in a contemporary dance air. Touching upon basic fundaments of Baroque, analyzing, deconstructing and synthesizing dance movements of historic court dances, saraband , minuet and gigue , dancers titter with form itself creating a new dance structure. The link connecting these two worlds is the essay Two autumns by Bruno Schulz. One of the eminent dissidents in contemporary Polish literature, considered by contemporaries as eccentric, absurd, or insane, the writer made an immense effort to reinterpret Polish literary tradition in a critical mood, pointing more to the unconscious, unofficial, marginal and bizarre strata of existential experience.

In his story the author identifies luxurious manifestations of autumn with the art of baroque calling them the antique stores of beauty. Ludicrous entanglement of scenic game creates a theatrical atmosphere of beauty and contemplation. And everything is dominated by the unavoidable Baroque and eternal theme - transience.

Zadar Dance Ensemble was founded in 1991. by dancers and choreographers Nives Šimatović Predovan and Sanja Petrovski.
